Dear Beach Flats Community Center (BFCC) Supporters,

As you know, the center faced closure in February of 2009 due to devastating budget cuts and economic challenges facing communities across the country. But since that time, the Santa Cruz community has pulled together to keep the center afloat, raising over $130,000 in grants and donations!

From children’s bake sales to Rotary Club fundraisers, people of all ages and backgrounds came together to help.

This generous support allowed the center to continue offering essential services to Beach Flats residents while the BFCC Advisory Committee sought a strong non-profit partner to provide stability for the program. We're very pleased to report that in September the Beach Flats Community Center and Community Bridges entered into a partnership with a shared mission to meet the needs of area residents and to build neighborhood capacity. With over 30 years of community-based nonprofit services in Santa Cruz County, including two family resource centers, Community Bridges makes a good partner for the Beach Flats Center.

We look forward to continuing to serve the neighborhood in the years to come. We are not out of the woods yet, but we can see the path that we must take. It is well illuminated by hundreds of special people who have joined us on our journey.
