The mission of the Beach Flats Community Center is to improve the living and social conditions of children and families in the Beach Flats neighborhood. 

Through our partnership with WIC we are providing:

  1. Nutrition education classes

  2. Gardening opportunities for children and families, using our local Beach Flats Community Garden and Poet’s Park

  3. Access to fresh vegetables via the Homeless Garden Project’s CSA program , Food What!? CSA, and the Beach Flats Community Garden

  4. Neighborhood Healthy Habits Initiatives

  5. And much more!

WIC Mission Statement

To improve the nutrition and health status of low-income women, infants, and preschool children who are at-risk by providing:

  1. Nutritious Food

  2. Nutrition and health education

  3. Breastfeeding education and support

  4. Referrals to health and human services

WIC is a short-term program designed to help families build healthy eating and living habits that will last a lifetime!

The Santa Cruz County Breastfeeding Coalition (BFC) is committed to optimizing the health of mothers and babies by encouraging breastfeeding friendly attitudes, policies, and images in the community, recognizing the impact of birthing practices on breastfeeding, and promoting breastfeeding education and supportive practices among women and their families, health professionals and the community.
